Back to work again...

"Ideal teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross, then having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own." -- Nikos Kazantzakis

The Spring 2012 semester has begun! Made it through the first week of classes, between work, school. I need to know which way I am going, whether it is to work or to school, as both of my environments are similar. Things are very hectic, as always, I hope to be prepared with what this semester brings. I was very glad to have met with my parent to discuss what we went through last semester with her child, and what we are going to be going through this semester. She seemed very receptive to what I was showing her, and she was happy to be provided with a copy. I look forward to working with my student this semester. I look forward to all the work we are going to accomplish, in the end it will feel exactly like that, accomplished, I hope.
I was very glad I sat down to talk with Dr. Rivera, we went over the syllabus, even though I am the only one in the course this semester. I was glad to finally have an idea and to really discuss what I am going to be doing this semester! It was very helpful, as I was sitting there, taking in all the information I was finally beginning to feel like I have so many ideas. I have soo many things I want to do this semester, I hope I can get through them all. I hope it works, and I hope my student improves his reading level.
Now at this point, I just need to really have excellent time management, and I really need to set my goals. I will definitely take the weekends into consideration as my time to "catch up" with everything I am going through the week. Good Luck to me!

  1. Joe,

Congratulations on meeting with your parent! I'm sure she was pleased with the diagnostic case report you reviewed with her. This semester will be an even more engaging experience as you conduct the various literacy strategies you've learned to help improve the reading level of your student. Good luck, and with much determination, you will achieve your goals!

    Best regards,
    Dr. Rivera
